Introduction to Programme

Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) is a three-year undergraduate program, affiliated to University of Mumbai that offers advanced studies in the field of management that are necessary to run an organization efficiently.  

The BMS program provides comprehensive management training to students by way of presentations, interaction, activities, projects, industrial visits, practical training, internships, job orientation and placements. It is a perfectly designed program to foster spirit of entrepreneurship among the young minds and also to develop mid level managerial skills for industry.

It aims to develop the lateral thinking skills, communication skills and social responsibilities and strengthen the analytical, interpersonal organisation and decision making skills among the students

Objectives

  • To provide a rich blend of business subjects designed to equip students with array of knowledge and skills needed to start a successful career.
  • To give an adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of Management.
  • To inculcate the habit of using modern technology to solve the practical problems in the real world.
  • To create for an additional avenue of self-employment and also benefit by providing them with suitably trained persons.
  • To provide basic understanding about management education among the students.

Eligibility Criteria

 First Year Bachelor of Management Studies (FY.B.M.S.)

1 Eligibility

a) First Semester

A candidate being eligible for admission to the degree course in Management Studies (FYBMS.) shall have passed XIIth Standard Examination (Arts/Commerce/Science) of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branches with two years duration after the SSC conducted by the Board of Technical Education Maharashtra State or equivalent examination.*Open category student should secure minimum 45% marks & reserved category student must secure minimum 40%.

 Every leaner admitted to degree course in the constituent/affiliated college/recognized institute conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with university.

b) Second Semester

A learner shall be allowed to keep for Semester II irrespective of grades obtained in each course Semester I

OR

A learner shall have passed in all course of Semester I.

 

Second Year Bachelor of Management Studies (S.Y.B.M.S.)

1. Eligibility

a) Third Semester

A leaner being eligible for the admission to the S.Y.B.M.S. Semester III must have either-Passed in all the courses in Semester I and Semester Il examinations.

OR

Should have failed in not more than four courses at Semester I and Semester II examinations taken together, with not more than two courses each at Semester I and Semester Il examinations.

Specialization to be offered to Learners from Sem. Ill onwards

b) Fourth Semester

A Learner shall be allowed to keep for Semester IV irrespective of number of heads of failure in the Semester III.

 

Third Year Bachelor of Management Studies (TY.B.M.S.)

1 Eligibility

A learner being eligible for the admission to the Semester V must have either passed in all the courses in Semester I, Semester II, Semester Ill and Semester IV Examination.

OR

Passed Semester I and Semester Il examination but failed in not more than four courses at Semester at  Semester III  and Semester IV examinations taken together, with not more than two courses each at Semester Ill and Semester IV examinations.

OR

Passed Semester II and Semester IV Examinations but failed in not more than four courses at Semester I and Semester II examinations taken together, with not more than two courses each at Semester I and Semester Il examinations

 

b. Sixth Semester

A learner shall be allowed to keep terms for Semester VI irrespective of grades obtained in each course of Semester V

OR

The result of Semester Vi shall be kept in abeyance until the learner passes each of Semester I, II, III, IV and V.

Program Outcome

The BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) Program provides comprehensive management training to students by way of interaction, projects, presentations, industrial visits, practical training, job orientation and placements.

The course will help the students to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to assume management positions in different organizations and helps students to understand how organizations work and managed. The degree aims to develop undergraduate students to be leaders and managers capable of taking on the challenges and rigors of the global marketplace. There will be better job opportunities after passing this course.
